I. Project overview


A sugar factory company in the United Arab Emirates signed a sugar slag treatment equipment with our company, which needs to deal with ten million tons of sugar slag every year. The sugar residue treatment production line signed this time is an experimental line. The aim is to explore how to dispose the sugar residue reasonably, recycle the useful components in it and convert it into lime. At the same time, the lime is further ground and then turned into milk of lime by hydration. The lime milk will be used in the sugar mill's own production. A large amount of flue gas is produced in the calcination section, and the CO2 in the flue gas will be collected by the CO2 collection device. The CO2 collected will also be used in the sugar mill's own production. Sugar residue treatment, turn waste into treasure, reuse, sustainable development, high economic value.


II. Project design principles


Fully consider the characteristics of high moisture and large viscosity of materials to design equipment and process flow. Considering the characteristics of energy saving, environmental protection, reuse and so on.


III. Project implementation


The sugar slag has a higher water content of about 30%-40% and is sent to the box feeder by forklift. The special box feeder has the characteristics of caching materials, dispersing materials and uniform feeding. The box feeder sends the material to the belt conveyor, which is equipped with a roller scale to accurately measure the feed amount. The material enters the shaftless screw conveyor through the belt conveyor. Shaftless screw conveyors are very suitable for conveying materials with higher moisture and greater viscosity. The material is fed into the dryer by a shaftless screw conveyor. The dryer is equipped with a chain device to disperse the material and prevent it from sticking to the cylinder wall, which also greatly improves the heat exchange efficiency. The dryer uses the hot flue gas from the rotary kiln to dry the material. The dried material enters the rotary kiln for calcining. The rotary kiln is equipped with a burner system to provide heat energy. The calcining temperature of 1250℃ makes the material fully react into lime. The calcined lime is fed into a single-barrel cooler. The single barrel cooler uses natural air for heat exchange with lime, and the temperature after cooling is the ambient temperature +50℃. At the same time, the heated air after heat exchange becomes a combustion air into the rotary kiln. The lime discharged from the cooling machine passes through the screw conveyor to the ball mill and is ground into lime powder.


The flue gas treatment of this project is also carefully designed. The flue gas at the end of the kiln first enters the cyclone dust collector for dust removal, and the flue gas after dust removal enters the heat exchanger for heat exchange. The flue gas after heat exchange enters the CO2 collection device. The CO2 collected will be used in the production of sugar plants. The lime grinding system is equipped with a wet dust collector. The lime dust collected by the wet dust collector can be turned into lime milk by hydration and used in the production of sugar mills.
